15 House Plants that are Super Easy to Keep Alive

Some of us just aren’t good at taking care of plants, but we still want to enjoy the benefits of house plants that brighten up our homes. Here’s a list of 15 house plants that are easy to take care of and hard to kill.

1. Pothos

Pothos is a vine that is known as one of the easiest plants to take care of because it can survive little sunlight and over or underwatering. It’s also known as “devil’s ivy” because it just won’t die.

2. Yucca

Yucca’s main requirement is a lot of sun. As long as you place this plant in a sunny spot and make sure it’s in a sturdy, deep container that will support its weight, it should stay happy. If you’re not good at watering plants, yucca will be your friend as it only needs to be watered sparingly.

3. Jade Plant

Jade is perfect for anyone who forgets to water their plants because it’s been known to survive more than a month without any water due to its ability to store water in its leaves.

4. Air Plant

Don’t like messy soil? Try an air plant. These plants don’t require any soil. Just be sure to soak them in water for 2-3 hours every 10 days.

5. Peace Lily

If your problem is overwatering, a peace lily might just be the plant for you because they can handle just that. Just provide enough light and this plant should be able to tolerate some overwatering.

6. Chinese Money Tree

The Chinese money plant is very low maintenance – just water weekly and keep in a shady spot. This plant is the plant that keeps on giving because you can replant the pieces that begin to grow from the base of the stem. These make great gifts – especially housewarming presents.

7. Calathea

Calathea is a beautiful, colorful plant that’s easy to keep alive. Just make sure the soil is consistently moist and keep away from bright light.

8. Rubber Plant

This plant prefers a shaded spot outside of direct light which is great if you’re working with minimal sunny spots. It requires watering just once a week as soon as you notice the soil has become dry.

9. Bromeliad

This lovely plant in the same family as the pineapple is a great plant for indoors because it prefers a temperature of 70 degrees. It’s also known to last quite some time, so it should be around for a while.

10. Chinese Evergreen

The Chinese evergreen plant loves indirect, low sunlight, making it a great option for the house. With their unique leaf pattern, they are a beautiful addition to any room – which is perfect because they’re very adaptable to most room temperatures and lighting.

11. Philodendron

Philodendron plants can handle minimal care – in fact, they prefer to be a little dry and they tolerate low light.

12. Kalanchoe

Kalanchoe is a succulent that grows colorful flowers and can handle harsh conditions, including dryness and fluctuations in temperatures.

13. Snake Plant

14. Dumb Cane

Dumb Cane, also known as Dieffenbachia, is easy to maintain and likes warmer temperatures but doesn’t like direct, unfiltered sunlight.
