What makes your company great?

A company spirit that revolves around generosity, having fun and a commitment to community service.

Supporting Our Community

Homestead's philosophy of putting people first has fostered a corporate culture that encourages support for the local communities we serve.  Our commitment to community goes beyond the services we offer to make our living.  We build a life beyond the workplace by getting involved with charitable events and organizations that improve the lives of our family, friends and neighbors.  Whether walking for the Heart Association, hosting a company barbecue to support our troops, rolling up our sleeves for the Red Cross or adopting a needy family during the holidays, the employees at Homestead are ready and willing to step up when called upon.In The Community Photo Set 1

American Heart Association
Since 1997 our company fundraising activities have raised almost $200,000 for the American Heart Walk.  In support of this effort there have been managers with pie on their face, with water up their nose and gladiators fighting to win the battle against heart disease.  These events have been witnessed by countless smiles and much laughter.

“Thank you for all that you did to make our Heart Walk a success!  The work you put into making this happen is incredible.”

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Over the past decade we have had people pulling with all their might in a tug of war to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.  Others participate in relay teams racing up 42 flights of stairs at the annual stair climb to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northeastern NY.

“We are thrilled to have Homestead/First Niagara back again this year.  Thanks so much for your help coordinating everything.  You are so great to do this. “

Adopt-a-Family Program
Every holiday season you will see people lugging VCR’s and winter coats and toys up the stairs where they are joined by countless others who have donated money or time to shop and wrap gifts for the Adopt-A-Family program.  All for someone they don’t even know.  All to make sure that this Christmas is a happy one for a struggling family in our community.

“We are so grateful for your help and continued support to the Adopt-a-Family program.  You have exhibited the real holiday spirit of giving and caring for others.”

Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York
Each year since 1998 we have supported the Regional Food Bank’s Holiday Hunger Appeal by holding little baskets as we ask shoppers at Crossgates mall to help feed the hungry with a one dollar donation.  Our people also generously volunteer their time to work in the food bank warehouse.

“It is an honor to have such friends as you.  Thank you for your devotion in helping us to alleviate hunger.”

American Red Cross
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for being a part of the American Red Cross Life Share program.  The Life Share program is about helping save lives by doing your ‘fair share’ in maintaining the community blood supply.  The program also provides a platform for recognizing the most dedicated sponsors.  Based on your employees’ donations, your organization has achieved the Platinum Level, which is the highest achievement in the Life Share program.”

Support Our Troops
Over the years Homestead and its employees have hosted numerous events to support the service of our men and women in uniform.  From bowl-a-thons to raise funds for Operation Uplink, to AUSA (Association of the United States Army) barbecues, we have expressed our deep appreciation for their courageous service to our country

“On behalf of the thousands of men and women serving our nation in uniform, thank you for your generous gift to Operation Uplink.  Your gift was used to purchase much needed phone time for troops on the front line, at a time when they need it most.”
